To enhance identity and develop manual skills Nomas revives the heritage of the first folk games championship

The first championship of the popular games will be held in January 2020, which is organized by Nomas Center in cooperation with the Qatar Scout Association and the Ministry of Education and Mesaieed Refinery.

The tournament is focuses on male and female students of the primary stage of grades four, five and six, in preparation for the sports day that will include the finals of the tournament.

The competition aims to preserve the popular heritage of the games of the Qatari community and enhance the identity and promotion of sport through the popular games that achieve the objectives of the sports day.

 

Mesaieed Refinery holds its annual Town Hall meeting

Mesaieed Refinery recently held its annual Town Hall meeting at Grand Hyatt Hotel in the presence of Sheikh Thani Bin Thamer Al-Thani, Chief Executive Officer at Mesaieed Refinery, the executive management, and Mesaieed Refinery employees.

The annual Town Hall meeting is an open forum for employees to meet with the CEO and executive management for discussions on the Company’s 2019 performance, achievements and strategic goals for the year ahead.

A question and answer session followed in which the CEO and the executive management team addressed the employee’s questions and enquiries on business-related matters and committed to review certain issues that were raised in the discussion in order to present suitable solutions accordingly.

The meeting also included the annual Long Service Award to honor and celebrate 67 of its employees for their key role and contributions to the Company’s sustained success.

CNA-Q’s top students honoured

The best and brightest graduating students from College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) were honoured at the Mesaieed Refinery President’s Medal for Academic Excellence gala held at the Sharq Hotel on Thursday.

Medals were presented to 27 students who received the highest marks in their individual programs of all graduating students. Of those honoured, 19 achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average. CNA-Q President Dr Khalifa bin Nasser Al Khalifa said, “These students can be proud of their achievements. They have worked hard, and are now ready to move forward in the next stage of their lives with confidence, whether it be further education or into the workforce.

The education that our students received during their time at CNA-Q has been rooted in applied, experiential learning. No doubt the highly-qualified and technically-competent young men and women you see before you today are the future leaders of Qatar.”

In addition to the Presidents’ Medals, ORXY Mesaieed presented four Distinguished Graduate Awards to one student from each of the College’s academic schools – Business Studies, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences and Information Technology. The students were nominated by their Dean for achieving exemplary academic standing and commitment to campus life, extracurricular activities and volunteerism.

The President’s Medal for Academic Excellence has been awarded since the College’s inception, however it became a gala event five years ago when Mesaieed Refinery became the official sponsor.

As the guest speaker for the event addressing the students, Mohamed Al Enazi, Chief Administration Officer at Mesaieed Refinery, said, “It is your responsibility to contribute to society by reinvesting the extraordinary skills and talents which we are here to celebrate today.

Not only will this make a positive contribution to your workplace, but it will strengthen the unity and success of the wider community.

Mesaieed Refinery is honoured to be associated with this initiative, and we hope to leave a real and lasting academic and intellectual legacy for future generations – in keeping with the vision and goals of our country’s wise leaders.”

The President’s Medal recipients will join their fellow students on June 20, for the 15th CNA-Q Graduation Ceremony at QNCC.

The graduation, under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, will be the largest in the College’s history with 559 graduates.

CNA-Q is Qatar’s premier technical college, offering nearly 30 diploma programs in Business Studies, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences and Information Technology.

Mesaieed Refinery honored by Qatar Diabetes Association

 

Mesaieed Refinery recently met with Dr. Abdulla Al-Hamaq, the Executive Director of Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), where he expressed his thanks and gratitude to Mesaieed Refinery for supporting many projects and initiatives that benefit individuals and the community. Dr. Abdulla Al-Hamaq was welcomed by Mr. Mohammed Al-Enazi, Chief Administration Officer at Mesaieed Refinery.

Dr. Abdulla Al-Hamaq said: “We are very grateful for your continued support and generous contribution that enabled us to deliver a successful International Bawasil Camp, benefiting and empowering our children living with diabetes while bringing delight, joyful moments and beautiful experiences that will inevitably have a positive impact on their future. This support is not new to Mesaieed Refinery, that has been providing support to our major programs like the (Rights of Students with Diabetes in schools). Thank you for believing in the mission of QDA and for being a valuable partner in improving the health of the community.”

Mesaieed Refinery Supports Qatari Autism Society

Qatari Autism Society (QAS) in co-operation withMESAIEED (Mesaieed) has signed an agreement to achieve QAS vision which aims to integrate people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) into the community since they are an integral part of it. This agreement contributes to support “You Complete Us” program hosted by QAS.

Qatari Autism Society hosted “You Complete Us” training and educational program for children with Autism aging (3-14 years). The program aims to qualify, rehabilitate and train the children with (ASD) so that they can rely on themselves to meet their daily needs and develop their abilities as well as provide support and guidance to their families.

ORYX (Mesaieed) is providing the needed support toward the success and sustainability of “You Complete Us” program.

The program consists of individual sessions in Arabic and English covering:

                • Speech-language Therapy
                • Occupational Therapy
                • Special Education (Behavior Modification)
                • Family Advisory Services

Mr. Mohamed Faisal – Executive Director of Qatari Autism Society – has expressed his pleasure in signing this agreement of partnership that will contribute in raising awareness among the community about Autism Spectrum Disorder.MESAIEED (Mesaieed) provides support to Qatari Autism Society in line with its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Qatari Autism Society hopes to get technical and financial support by singing such agreement with governmental institutions and civil society organizations to approach Qatar vision 2030 as well as the Qatari Autism Society vision, and to let the society contribute in completing (One piece of Autism puzzle).

 

 

Mesaieed Refinery Launches 6th Awards Campaign for the Advancement of Post Graduate Education in Qatar

Doha, January 31st  2019: Mesaieed Refinery kicked off the sixth year of its student awards campaign for the Advancement of Post Graduate Education in Qatar with a seminar held at Texas A&M University at Qatar. The Mesaieed Refinery Student Seminars aim to enhance dialogue between students, academic institutions and industry to help better define what programs and subsequent career opportunities are most beneficial for post-graduate students in Qatar and beyond.

In tandem with its series of Student Seminars, Mesaieed Refinery annually hosts an Awards ceremony for the Advancement of Post Graduate Education. The pioneering student awards acknowledge two Masters and two PhD students and winners go on to become ambassadors for post graduate education and participate in the program of seminars throughout the academic year at universities in Qatar.

 

“The Mesaieed Refinery Student Awards were created with the vision to accelerate the development of Qatar’s knowledge economy and champion dialogue between industry and academia,” said Mohamed Al Enazi, CAO at Mesaieed Refinery. “The Awards continue to be a cornerstone of Qatar’s efforts to reach its 2030 National Vision through recognition of the superior achievements of its most capable minds,” Al Enazi continued.

The Awards campaign marks a key step in efforts by stakeholders in industry & academia to inspire an ethos of innovation and research and development (R&D) in Qatar as the country plays an essential role in the global push for more science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) students and skills to tackle the growing technical challenges in the energy sector.    

Tackling the grand challenges of energy security, water security, cyber security and health has been part and parcel of Qatar’s National Vision for the past decade. Continued partnership between industry, academia and government will be essential going forward as the country prepares to sustain and further advance the production of its resources and technical know-how.

Mesaieed Refinery signs a five-year agreement with AZF to sponsor Freestyle Aquatics for people with disabilities

On Sunday, Mesaieed Refinery signed a five-year partnership agreement with Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) to sponsor Aspire’s pilot CSR initiative for people with disabilities, Freestyle Aquatics.

The agreement was signed at AZF’s Headquarters by Mr. Abdulla Nasser Al-Naemi, Director General, Aspire Logistics and Mohamed Al Enazi, Chief Administration Officer, Mesaieed Refinery, in the presence of officials from Mesaieed Refinery including Ibrahim Al Kuwari, CSR Coordinator.

The support that Mesaieed Refineryprovides to this unique CSR programme will benefit more than 27 participants with special needs, aged 5 and above who will be given customised swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving experiences and individualised training sessions.

Commenting on the new partnership, Mr. Abdulla Nasser Al-Naemi, Director General, Aspire Logistics, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Mesaieed Mesaieed. This news will further enhance our efforts to attract greater numbers of participants to this unique initiative. The business’ involvement reflects how national organisations are keen to integrate people with special needs into society, and to break down perceptions that sports are to be enjoyed exclusively by a particular group of people.”

Al-Naemi added: “The programme has delivered more than 850 hours of aquatic training since it was launched in 2016, and we’re enormously grateful for the tremendous efforts of our volunteer coaches who have generously contributed their time. We are committed to expanding the programme and including greater numbers of participants.”

Meanwhile, Mohamed Al Enazi, Chief Administration Officer, Mesaieed Refinerysaid: “Through our corporate social responsibility programme, we aim to contribute to different sectors of the economy including sports, education and health. It is a great honour to join forces with AZF to support this unique initiative by sponsoring it for five years.”

Freestyle Aquatics at Aspire is part of AZF’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme and builds on its existing efforts to provide people with disabilities with a wide range of opportunities to participate in sporting activity throughout the year. Creating such opportunities encourages people to maintain active and adopt healthy lifestyles, helping them feel included in the various local community activities underway in Qatar.

The initiative started in November 2016 when AZF opened its indoor pool in Aspire Dome, the largest multi-purpose facility of its kind in the world. It was co-founded by Kathleen Bates and Jojo Musa, two volunteer coaches from Freestyle Aquatics. HavingAspire as such a central pillar of the programme has encouraged increasing numbers of families to register since launch.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Sasol, and Mesaieed Refinery launch “Fun Days with Qatar e-Nature” at 7 Public parks

In an initiative designed to raise environmental awareness and promote knowledge in an interactive and engaging way, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the Public Parks Department (PPD), Sasol, and Mesaieed Refinery announced the launch of “Fun Days with Qatar e-Nature”, a series of family entertainment activities in seven public parks in Qatar.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at the PPD headquarters and attended by officials from the organizing parties as well as representatives of Vodafone Qatar, the official telecommunication sponsor of the event.

Speakers at the press conference reviewed the activities and competitions that will be held as part of the Fun Days activities over 7 Fridays, starting on 8 February and ending on 22 March 2019, from 2 to 6 pm every Friday.

The activities will be held consecutively in Izghawa Park (8 February), Al Shahaniya Park (15 February), Khor Plaza Park (22 February), Celebration Square Park – Al Daayen (1 March), Al Legtaifiya Park (8 March), Al Shamal Park (15 March) and Al Wakrah Public Garden (22 March). Each park will host a fun day so that all areas and communities in Qatar will be covered.

The Fun Days with Qatar e-Nature will feature exciting competitions, fun activities, planting experiences, and interactive games, in addition to various sports such as Zumba, Karate, and kickboxing. Gymmito Fitness Club will present a balance game for children; Vodafone Qatar will present an augmented reality game to educate children about online safety; and Sasol will present a “small steps for healthy habits” game. Moreover, “This is Qatar” will offer photography workshops for adults.

PPD Director Mohammed Al Khoori commented: “Through its various departments, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment is working to promote the culture of sustainability and environment protection and to encourage people, especially the young, to plant trees and increase green spaces. The objectives of the Fun Days initiative and Qatar e-Nature in general are in line with these efforts. We thank Sasol and Mesaieed Refinery for this initiative and we wish all family members a great time in the seven parks.”

Winners in the weekly contests, and in a draw that will take place at the end of the Fun Days, will receive valuable prizes presented by the sponsors and supporters of the event including Vodafone Qatar, Flik Cinema, AURA, and Baladna Farm. The prizes include mobile phones, cinema tickets, entertainment vouchers, and more.

Jack Saba, General Manager of Public Affairs at Sasol, said: “Fun Days with Qatar e-Nature is an extension of the Qatar e-Nature initiative, reflecting Sasol’s commitment to raise environmental awareness and educate people about the rich diversity of Qatar’s nature and the importance of protecting the environment. Questions at the competitions and planting experiences will be based on content that is available free of charge in the Qatar e-Nature application and website in Arabic and English. Launched by Sasol, the application contains official information about plants, birds, insects, reptiles, mammals, marine life, and nature reserves in Qatar.

Qatar e-Nature is the first smartphone application of its kind. It sheds light on Qatar’s rich environmental diversity. Sasol cooperated with the Friends of the Environment Center to develop the application to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. The application is available for download free of charge on Apple Store, Google Play and Windows Store.

 

Mesaieed Refinery employees and families participate in Sports Day activities

 As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program and its commitment to contribute to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among its employees and members of society, Mesaieed Refinery celebrated the eighth sports day of the state through establishment of several sporting events in cooperation with Al-Kharaitiyat Football Club.

The event was attended by Executive management of the company and a number of employees and their families.

Executive management and a number of employees had a tour in the early morning around Al-Kharaitiyat Club on the bicycles, accompanied by a professional team from Doha Cycling.

After the warm up, participants moved to the different areas to enjoy their favourite sport. Many popular sports like football tournament, Cricket and table tennis were among the activities available.

There was also a special area for children with several attractions like bouncy castles in addition to some competitions like Tug of war, Musical chairs, and Balloons Competition.

CSR team was part of this year’s sports day activities by allocating a place for children’s cycling in cooperation with Doha Cycling.

Sasol also joined in the event and offered fun and interactive game for children to play during Sports Day.

Medical and security support services were on stand-by, to ensure the safety and security of all participants.

Mesaieed Refinery employees participate in Blood Donation campaign in Doha

Mesaieed Refinery recently organized a blood donation campaign at its headquarters in Doha in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) with the objective of adding to the national blood reserves. This event confirms the commitment of Mesaieed Refinery to supporting the local community by its Corporate Social Responsibility program which includes health awareness programs and support to health organizations in the country. The blood donation drive primarily raises awareness on the role blood donation plays in saving lives. Mesaieed Refinery believes that blood donation is a key element in promoting the core value of individual volunteering for the benefit of the community.
